With You Forever (Bergman Brothers #4)

by Chloe Liese finished March 27th

I LOVE these books. Today, I was not feeling well. Between the strep throat and my period, I was miserable. My throat felt like it was on fire, my cramps were killing me, setting off period poops that were indistinguishable from the ridiculous shits caused by penicillin to fix the strep. Wait, did you not come here to read about my bowel movements? Welp, we might have a problem then...

I took my kindle, my headphones, and some pillows out to enjoy the warm(ish) weather and ended up reading the entire book.

This book focuses on the love story between the oldest Bergman Brother, Axel, and Willa's best friend, Rooney. It was clear it was coming after the charades kiss in the last book. Chloe loves to add in neurodivergent characters and much like Frankie and his little sister Ziggy, Axel is autistic. Then Rooney is dealing with ulcerative colitis, so this book talks about shit and farting and NORMAL human body functions.

Story time:

When Mike and I first met I was living in New Zealand. We met online and didn't meet until we had known each other for six months. We spent a few days together, then I flew back to the East coast, surprised a friend for her 30th birthday and packed up all my stuff. After a long drive across the country in a vehicle no one else thought could make it, I was able to get in a few more days with Mike before I put my stuff into storage and set off for more adventure. And by adventure, I mean a terrible job at a fishing resort in Alaska. We spent another 3 months apart and then decided to do to Denali together. The point of this very long story is this, we hadn't spent much time physically together.

While driving down the road, my IBS flared up. I searched for a nearby toilet but we were in the middle of no where. So I pulled over the car and set off into the woods with a pack of baby wipes and a plastic bag to take care of my business. I forbade Mike from watching me and that was that. The fact that Mike never gave me any shit for needing a sudden shit may be why we are married today. It may also be the fact that we both cracked up when a mile down the road we passed an actual rest area.

The point of my story is that shit can literally bring us closer to our partners. In my marriage we talk about our shits, typically without too much detail. Rooney and Axel were able to acknowledge that everybody poops and some of us have to take emergency poops. Although I wish mine would end with finding an adorable kitten.

Point is, grab some headphones and this book and just enjoy a good romance with a ton of tropes and a lot of warmth.
